On General Hospital, shouldn’t someone be upset that Anna and Valentin Cassadine are allegedly dead?
On General Hospital, everyone in the community now believes that Anna Devane and Valentin are deceased. So why hasn’t anyone they care about brought it up or even batted an eye?
General Hospital Was In A Pickle
James Patrick Stuart had to work around GH’s double-duty timetable as he filmed the Disney series The Villains Of Valley View for the second consecutive year. Valentin’s relationship with Anna was put on hold last year for a few months after he was essentially written off the screen. (Finola Hughes). This year, that relationship was fully developed when the Disney series filming schedule began, so rather than let Anna go it alone once more, GH sent Vanna on the run for several months, giving the impression that they were on a completely separate show.
The majority of Anna and Valentin’s sequences have taken place in small settings with a minimal number of additional actors, if any. It is evident that the serial filmed as many sequences as possible when Stuart was available and then edited them into other episodes to spread them out over a number of months. They still appeared to be a part of the same world as the rest of our beloved Port Charles friends, which is the issue because it appears that nobody oversaw the continuity.
Where Is The Grief on GH For Anna Devane and Valentin?
According to the narrative, Anna and Valentin have now pretended to die in an attempt to unseat Valentin’s father, Victor. (Charles Shaughnessy). The community was meant to learn of their deaths, but it doesn’t appear that it has. In Port Charles, Anna and Valentin both have ex-lovers who haven’t spoken to them in a while.
Finn (Michael Easton), Anna’s erstwhile fiancé, only worries about managing Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) life and hasn’t wept a single emotion for Anna, the woman he was prepared to wed until a lie was revealed at their wedding. Nina spent many years with Valentin, but she hardly seems to recall that he was once living. Even though Anna is the grandmother of Maxie (Kirsten Storms), we don’t see her showing even the slightest concern for what occurred to Anna. Where does Mac (John J. York) stand? Mac shouldn’t worry that his former sister-in-law is now deceased, but Felicia (Kristina Wagner) said she was going to keep the truth from him so he wouldn’t jeopardize his position as a policeman.
Since we can see Anna and Valentin and are aware of their plans, we are aware that they are not deceased, but nobody else is meant to be aware of what is happening. Only Ned (Wally Kurth) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) appear to be aware of Valentin’s disappearance, and they are just glad to be free of him. What about the burials, though? Where is the public expression of sorrow for a beloved figure like Anna? If only those responsible for editing the episodes and screenplays had paid heed, this could have been done properly.
