Please allow us to explain Little Jake Spencer’s strange past from GENERAL HOSPITAL. Hudson West, who has appeared in movies like Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and television shows like AMERICAN CRIME STORY and GREY’S ANATOMY, is currently the actor that plays Jake. When GH brought the character back in 2015, James took over the part solo but was recast a year later with West, who continues to appear in the show to this day. The youngster was originally portrayed as a toddler by twins Edward and James Nigbor.
Elizabeth Webber had an affair with Jason Morgan after learning that Lucky Spencer had been having an affair with Maxie, and Jake is the outcome. (Jason also had a strained relationship with Sam after discovering her in bed with Ric!) Despite Liz’s uncertainty, Jason was identified as the child’s father via a paternity test. Jason eventually admitted the truth to Lucky after Liz told him. Nevertheless, they all decided to continue pretending that Lucky is Jake’s father so that the child wouldn’t be impacted by Jason’s affiliation with the mob.
Jake tragically died in 2011 after being struck by a motorist in a hit-and-run. Carly was thankful when Lucky and Elizabeth decided to give Jake’s organs since she desperately needed a kidney transplant to help save the life of her ill daughter, Josslyn Jacks. Later, it came to light that Luke Spencer had struck Jake while driving under the influence, and when he realized the truth of what he had done, he lost control.
Luke visited Cassadine Island in 2015 after Lucky told his father that Jake was indeed alive, and he was shocked to find the youngster residing with Helena Cassadine. When Jake was reunited with his family, things were a little unclear because Jason, Jake’s father, had amnesia and was referring to himself as Jake at the time.
Although Liz concerned that Jake needed assistance because of the news that Helena had passed away, Jake would occasionally display a little unusual behavior. He started making eerie drawings and complained that someone was looking through their house window at him. Jake said Sam McCall was stalking him and even left her for dead after she fell down a flight of stairs because he thought she was the reason his parents weren’t living together.
Jake thought he had murdered Sam when he woke up after being struck by a car while riding his bike, but Liz reassured him that it wasn’t true and Sam was alright. She also said that she was solely to blame for their breakup because she had misled Jason about his true identity while he was suffering from amnesia.
Jake and Franco Baldwin connected during their art therapy sessions, and Jake was pleased when the artist and his mother grew close. Liz and Franco were alarmed when he started acting strangely once more, muttering about curses and quoting passages from Helena’s book. With Emma Drake and Charlotte Cassadine, Jake purchased a magic kit with the intention of performing a magic trick at the 2017 Nurses Ball. However, this was all a part of Helena’s plan to spread the Chimera virus across Port Charles. Fortunately, Jake’s loved ones were able to communicate with him via his Helena hallucinations and bring him back to reality, saving the day.
But, when Jason the genuine returned to Port Charles, Jake’s life became even more difficult. It was then discovered that Jake’s father, Drew Cain, was actually Jason’s twin. When Jake first heard the news, he reacted violently and insisted that Drew was his father. Nevertheless, with time, Jake learned to accept Jason’s return in his life.
Jake also told Liz and Franco about the issues bullies were causing his younger brother Aiden at school. Jake had to deal with losing Drew in addition to Franco being shot and killed. Jake insisted on defending Jason when he was falsely accused because he could not accept that his father could have murdered his stepfather. Jake and Cameron Webber’s older brother, who was determined to hold Jason accountable for Franco’s death, had a lot of conflict as a result of this. Luckily, the brothers and sisters reconciled.
Jake was relieved to learn that Peter August had passed away because he wanted to see Franco’s killer receive justice. He was relieved to find Franco’s painting of Liz back in the house, too, as he had been worried that everyone had forgotten about him. Although Liz had avoided her parents for years, she was a little pissed at him to learn that her kid had been in contact with them!
