On the Couch: Why Does GH’s Spencer Cassadine Do What He Does?

What could convince Spencer Cassadine to change his harmful ways.

Fans of General Hospital followed Spencer Cassadine’s development. We were there when Nikolas spoiled the child rotten and when Jax and Carly lied about the boy’s parentage. His early flirting with Emma, his antagonism with Cameron, and his strange Phantom of the Opera period were all visible to us. Because of this, we believe we can understand his fairly messed-up mind better than any therapist.

Spencer Cassadine: Poor Little Orphan Boy

Spencer was clearly suffering because he had no mother. Nikiolas and Uncle Sonny (Maurice Benard) didn’t do much to convince him otherwise because he had elevated Courtney (Alicia Leigh Willis) to almost legendary dimensions. Spencer believed he was superior to others because of who he was destined to be, not because of who he truly was.

Second General Hospital Blow

Then a young Spencer misplaced Nikolas. Grandma Laura (Genie Francis) took custody of him because it was assumed that his father had passed away. Laura gave it her all, but Spencer was difficult. So she sent the child to boarding school like all good soap show parents do. and handed him a credit card with no spending limits.

Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) felt deceived when Nikolas came back. His new stepmother also didn’t excite him. Spencer believed his father’s focus was being diverted by Ava (Maura West).

Spencer Cassadine: Nothing To Live Up To

Spencer once believed that as a Cassadine, he was superior to everyone. As a result, Spencer is now concerned that he is worse. Nikolas let him down. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), first by mating with her and then by imprisoning her. Esme let Spencer down by deceiving him for such an extended period of time.

Spencer aspires to have the same moral character as Trina and his buddy Cameron (William Lipton). (Tabyana Ali). Spencer worries that he will never be as good as them. What does he then do? When he can, he sets them down. Whenever he can, he moves them away.

Spencer is worried that Trina will mistake him for someone else. And he fears becoming the man he already believes himself to be even more.
