There is no way this could go right.
From the moment Robert Scorpio first appeared on General Hospital late 1980, there was a contingent of fans who believed this was the man who could steal Laura Webber away from Luke Spencer. Especially since Laura and Luke were in one of their “off” periods then.
General Hospital: Friends, No Benefits
But the moment never quite seemed right. In particular, one of them was either deeply in love with someone else or was away from Port Charles for the majority of the time… or not. Currently, Robert (Tristan Rogers) is dealing with an apparently amnesic and resurrected Holly Sutton, while Laura (Genie Francis) is married to Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) (Emma Samms). And that’s advantageous. which ought to remain that way.
My Chemical Romance
Yes, Laura and Robert get along. (And not only because they portrayed antagonistic ex-lovers in The Young and the Restless.) However, it is of the friendship kind. Their conversations have a nice flow, but there is no heat. They get along well. They feel at ease with one another. They are compatible. But that’s where it ends.
Robert Scorpio: The Biggest Stumbling Block
However, that is not the main obstacle or justification for Laura and Robert not becoming lovers. Heck, Laura and Kevin’s relationship could fit the description of what we just discussed (Jon Lindstrom). She even got married to him.
The main argument against Laura and Robert getting together is that they each have more experience. They are aware of how it is. The love between Laura and Luke (Anthony Geary) inspired a People Magazine cover. The kind of young love that teen romance novels are made of existed between Laura and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).
As for Robert, there was Holly (Emma Samms), who he obviously can’t get out of his system, no matter how hard he tries, and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), who fills his need for a friendly adversary to snark with, while never allowing anyone else to say a bad word about her. At best, Robert and Laura would be each other’s third best. And they both deserve more than that.
