The actress shares her personal struggles on her road to parenthood.
Every week General Hospital’s Maurice Benard manages to find the story behind the story on his video podcast show, State Of Mind. This week he sat down with The Young and the Restless’s Melissa Claire Egan and covered new ground with a raw and honest discussion on struggling with infertility.
Maurice Benard And Melissa Claire Egan: Searching For A Miracle
This week’s episode of Benard’s (Sonny Corinthos) show focused on a different kind of State Of Mind: the difficulties and anxiety associated with dealing with in-vitro fertilization, a topic that Egan (Chelsea Lawson, Y&R) is all too familiar with. Egan, who has been wed to entrepreneur Matt Katrosar since July 2014, was keen to raise a family. But plans frequently get derailed by life.
The actress spoke candidly about her struggles with infertility. I often quip, “I can relate to fertility concerns until the cows come home, but I can’t relate to mental health issues.” Before saying, “I have been pretty vocal about it,” she laughed. I’ve lost two pregnancies. My son was born after…five years. I have a condition known as PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome. I have a condition known as silent endometriosis. Almost everything I did was wrong.
Before talking about her IVF experience, Egan said, “I believe in God and I just felt like I will just keep going.” “With all of the needles, medications, blood thinners, acupuncture, and appointments, I feel quite dismal about my chances of getting pregnant. Numerous IVF transfers went wrong for us. We became pregnant with Caden on the fourth transfer.
Finally becoming a mother or father makes up for all the agony, as many women who have gone through this journey will attest. In August of 2021, Caden Robert Katrosar was born. “It’s amazing. It’s miraculous. The actress who was up for a Daytime Emmy was overjoyed to become a mother. “My husband, he’s also incredible! He was quite helpful to me as I sorted through all of my belongings. It takes a long time. You put a lot of work into this, and I hope it works out. And we are extremely appreciative.
