Ryan was sent to a psychiatric hospital. He had every reason to need a partner who could come and go whenever she chose. She should also be impressionable and youthful. Even nicer if she felt she was youthful, intelligent, and smart. They are frequently the most straightforward to control.

Ryan might have done his investigation and selected a young woman who was clearly already unstable and in need of not only a family but also a helping hand. How can we be certain that Ryan’s mental indoctrination did not totally produce the Esme we met? Perhaps she is not the monster that we have been lead to assume. She is simply what Ryan made her. What if she genuinely became the person she was before to Ryan touching her as a result of the fall she had and the head injury? The genuine Esme is here. The other was only Ryan’s stooge.
