It’s hard to think that Tabyana Ali was ever passed up for General Hospital, yet, believe it or not, it has occurred before. Because the person who plays Trina read twice for the role.
Then, years later, Ali returned to read once more for General Hospital. She “didn’t know this time it was Trina,” though. I didn’t realize it was for Trina until I received the script, when I was actually trying out for two other persons.
The young actress was acutely aware of how things had, in a sense, come full circle. In fact, you could say that it struck her a little harder than she might have preferred.
Ali said, “That was such a crucial time for me. I take it very seriously. I recall crying for days before my screen-testing appointment. I was sobbing uncontrollably.
Certainly, nerves are capable of it. However, these weren’t precisely nerves. Ali’s mother looked into the issue since she was worried. After all, the person who played Trina had long struggled with depression and anxiety. There were times when her mother had to push her out of bed.
But this wasn’t exactly that. Ali tried to describe it as more of a sense, almost subtle.
She said, “I could feel shift.” “I could sense it in the air. I was not afraid that I wouldn’t receive it. I believe I sensed the change coming, and I was anxious because it meant that everything in my life would soon change drastically.
We can’t really say that we blame her for acting strangely at the thought. Even though change is frequently for the better, it can still be frightening, especially when it involves significant, profound change.
Everything I was familiar with was about to become unpleasant, as Ali phrased it. I’ll need to learn new things, more about myself, and about the craft I’ve been practicing for 13 years.
She clarified, “And I was happy about it, but I was also just overwhelmed by it at the same time.
She wasn’t off, either. As we all know, she aced the screen test and was offered the part for which she had initially auditioned three years prior. Trina from General Hospital was now Tabyana Ali, and she would soon join “Sprina,” the upcoming supercouple.
She doesn’t take it lightly, and she is still appreciative to the people who have encouraged and supported her along the way.
She continued, “I also want to take this opportunity to thank [executive producer] Mr. Frank Valentini for seeing something in me. “For seeing my potential. Even now, I suppose he caught a glimpse of something. I believe he sees something in me that I might not. And I sincerely appreciate the encouragement he has given me.
She is “getting to the place that I want to be,” she says.
