General Hospital’s Emma Samms Marvels at the Miracle She Didn’t Even Realize She’d Pulled Off Until She Already Had

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss!

On General Hospital, Holly is in a difficult situation right now, and we’re not just talking about the fact that Victor is holding Ethan hostage to force her to do his bidding. Even though Robert is aware of the reality, he is still not overly fond of his ex. And it’s quite doubtful that the supporters would ever forgive her for what she’s (reluctantly) done in Victor’s name.

However, neither Holly nor Emma Samms are in this situation for the first time. She actually faced a bit of an uphill struggle when she originally came on! In fact, she talked a little bit about her early days and the reason she was hired when she appeared on State of Mind with host Maurice Benard (Sonny)!

“I came in the post-Luke and Laura [era],” she shared, “and they had been trying to another love interest for Tony Geary.”

It… wasn’t going well.

“They tried Demi Moore,” Samms explained. “She was on the show when I started, and that didn’t work out. Janine Turner, but that didn’t work. The audience were not ready, they were not having it. They were not going to accept anyone other than Genie [Francis].”

Samms, though, didn’t realize any of this when she came in. She was a complete newbie when it came to American soaps and General Hospital. Luke and Laura wedding? What wedding?

She said, “I didn’t know any of it because I had not watched the show. I was the third try to find a love partner for Luke. Since I was raised in England, I didn’t grow up around it.

She was just happy to obtain the position and didn’t even know who Luke and Laura were. But as it turns out, Luke and Holly’s cooperation proved that the third time really is the charm. The admirers grew fond of her.

She remembered happily that “the characters were together for a time.” “Then came the traditional love triangle. We conducted remote shots in Texas and Canada since it was such a big deal.

They even had a son together because it was such a big deal! He’s been abducted once more by Victor, and Holly is back to try to win the fans over.

We’re sure she can do it again because she performed a miracle forty years ago!
