Rebecca Budig, a star of General Hospital, recently shared her postpartum melancholy for the first time. And she chatted about it with someone very important in her life. What she says is as follows.
General Hospital Star Rebecca Budig Opens Up About Her Postpartum Depression
Rebecca revealed how she dealt with some of the extremely gloomy feelings she experienced shortly after the birth of her daughter Charlotte in 2014 in an interview with her General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) for his mental health series State of Mind.
“You don’t have to have suffered from depression for it to develop,” Rebecca said. I struggled with severe worry and melancholy. I would finish my first series of scenarios, get dressed, rush home to see her (I would only have a few minutes), and then rush back to work.
Rebecca added that she was under a lot of pressure to nurse her child at the moment. She claimed, “I just fell down a rabbit tunnel because I wasn’t creating enough because she wasn’t gaining enough. Even this, I can’t gift to her. I believe that it was also influenced by the fact that I didn’t attend any motherhood courses. I have no idea what to do or how to manage this infant. I felt a little lonely. I had my spouse, but my mother was unable to travel, and neither of my sisters were available to me because they were raising families. I therefore lacked a community of companions. Nobody was looking out for me in that manner.
General Hospital Star Rebecca Says She Knew Something Was Wrong After Giving Birth
Rebecca acknowledges that as soon as she gave delivery, she immediately realized something was awry. Rebecca said, “Pervasive sadness… not feeling like a good parent,” when asked why she didn’t feel like herself. Keeping her sobs inside. Up and down it was. It got worse at times than at other moments. I attempted taking medicine, and it made it much worse. I can still clearly recall wanting to harm myself the first week I started taking it.
