Greetings on Leslie Charleson’s bday!
Although Monica Quartermaine’s incredible presence in Port Charles, particularly in the house her husband Alan purchased for her, has been missed for some time, Leslie Charleson, who plays the character, is currently experiencing a significant life milestone.

That’s because she turned 78 today! She was born on February 22, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, making her an adored performer. Charleson’s depiction of Pam on the short-lived ABC drama A Flame in the Wind helped start her career.
In 1964, she had a brief appearance as Alice Whipple on As the World Turns, and between 1967 and 1979, she could be seen as Iris Donnelly Garrison on the CBS daytime drama Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, where she was one of three lovers in a triangle with actors David Birney and Donna Mills. Later, when she joined GH in the character of Madeline Reeves, Nina’s mother and Liesl Obrecht’s sister, the latter would once more be her co-star.
Later projects included cameo appearances on shows like Barnaby Jones, Mannix, Adam-12, The Rookies, Emergency!, Cannon, and The Streets of San Francisco. She took over the role of Dr. Monica Bard Webber from Patsy Rahn on August 16, 1977, the same day Elvis Presley passed away. Charleson was a big admirer.
The adored actress has played Monica for more than 45 years, and for the role, she has received two Daytime Emmy Award nods. Her other credits include the TV movies Woman on the Ledge with Deidre Hall, Michael Zaslow, Peter Bergman, and other soap opera actors, as well as segments of The Wild Wild West, Kung Fu, Medical Story, Baa Baa Baa Black Sheep, and McMillan & Wife.
