Because she wouldn’t give Ava Jerome (Maura West) a pistol, General Hospital teasers and theories suggest that Heather Webber (Alley Mills) cannot be the only Hook. Instead of providing her with a means of escape and murdering Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom), wouldn’t she have killed her?
General Hospital Spoilers: Giving Ava Jerome A Gun Makes No Sense
Why would Heather hand her a pistol and instruct her to use it on Ryan after assisting Ryan in escaping from Spring Ridge if she were the only Hook and not a copycat? Of course, it is impossible to ignore Heather’s very powerful maternal impulses, which first surfaced when she began getting to know their now-adult daughter Esmé Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl). Most likely, Heather has been responsible for some of the killings, beginning with Rory Cabrera, and she knows who the real Hook is (Michael Blake Kruse).
But if Heather was the only Hook all along, why wouldn’t she have killed Ava in the Wyndemere living room? That initial murder attempt on Ava is puzzling. Why did she give the two of them a way out if Ava and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) weren’t still enemies?
GH Spoilers: Knowing What Ryan Chamberlain Really Is
Unless the two of them were simply lying to one another, neither Heather nor he knew what had happened to “Richie” or “Hazel.” Perhaps they were unfamiliar with one another twenty or so years ago, before the widespread use of the internet and, most definitely, before the invention of smartphones. Since it’s unlikely that Ryan served as a doctor, he was probably used as an assassin when he was in the DVX after being saved from the funhouse fire.
Maybe something happened to Heather when she saw Ryan in action and how he terrified Esmé—who also probably had never seen this side of him—and she concluded he wasn’t worth rescuing. That is a possibility, but going back to the Hook killings, Esmé was gone at the time of the initial assaults and wasn’t thought to be a Hook suspect, so why would Heather want to imitate her?
General Hospital Spoilers: Even The Cassadines Didn’t Know
Even the Cassadines were unaware of Esmé’s status until she reappeared living. She and Ava fought over an envelope that she didn’t want to let go of, and she eventually plummeted from the balcony. Ava and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had witnessed Nikolas Cassadine (at the time Marcus Coloma) fire her possessions in a container outside Wyndemere. Esmé was nowhere to be found, not even by Victor’s people, at which point Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) died and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) was assaulted.
What motive would Heather have had to carry out the Hook assaults if Esmé was still unaccounted for and possibly dead? That is, unless Heather knew where Esmé was and who was taking care of her. The next time she ran into Esmé in Spring Ridge, she didn’t recognise her or Ryan because Esmé had dementia.
