Esmé was a very cunning and habitual deceiver before being captured and developing amnesia; some people even question whether she ever had amnesia in the first place. But for an eight-month pregnant woman to light her apartment on fire and jump off a parapet in the dead of winter, it takes a lot of mental anguish and desperation. But her fear as she confronted a dry labor by herself while with “Daddy” Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) alone in the forests revealed that her forgetfulness was genuine.

She abruptly thanked him on behalf of herself and the infant when she was chatting to Mac Scorpio (John J. York) about her new baby boy in her hospital room at GH. She wasn’t sure why she gave him that moniker, but it was what she called him when she was expecting and Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) was holding her captive—her “ace in the pit.”
She actually spoke to her infant quite a deal, and even though she was unable to associate the moniker “Ace” with anything she could recall, it sounded natural. She was still somewhat perplexed about the origin of that moniker, and another indication of “triggering” was the fact that she started crying when she learned Ryan had passed away. Given that she was terrified of him in Spring Ridge and after their family escaped, this “triggering” is an indication that her memories are starting to surface.
General Hospital Spoilers: A New Perception
On Monday, March 6, Esmé has a new sense, which indicates that she will have a different perspective on things or, alternatively, that her recollection has returned. Esmé could resurface with a fresh outlook; she might discover that she prefers to be viewed as more than just a depraved criminal con artist. She couldn’t believe she’d done the things she’s been accused of doing, and that may support the psychologist’s idea of nature versus nurture. Her entire personality altered when she became amnesic.
Additionally, she now holds sweet innocence in her arms rather than a “ace in the hole” or other useful object, suggesting that becoming a new mother has transformed her for the best. Even if she is lying about having her memories back, if she is doing it to maintain her fresh start, then she has done the right thing.
