General Hospital rumors hint that when Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), who visits Wyndemere more frequently, spends more time with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), she will begin to feel a peculiar connection with Esme, as if she has known her for a very long time. She won’t be able to explain why she feels such an odd comfort around her, but she will do her best to make sense of it while keeping it to herself. The news that Elizabeth has a soft place for Esme is the last thing Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) wants to hear.

Elizabeth can persuade herself that she recognizes a piece of herself in Esme and can thus relate to her viewpoint. She doesn’t feel sorry for her. Esme continues to infuriate her for capturing footage of her son Cameron “Cam” Webber (William Lipton) engaging in sexual activity with his girlfriend Josslyn “Joss” Jacks (Eden McCoy).

Elizabeth is still haunted by Esme’s horrific actions and the fact that she feels she was responsible for the killings on The Hook, but she also can’t get beyond the fact that Esme is also a young, single mother who is afraid and in need of help. She might simply be all too familiar with what it’s like to be a single parent with no relatives.

Elizabeth may go back on some of her own less-than-ideal choices and conclude that she wouldn’t have succeeded in life if she had been punished for her errors. She was given a second opportunity and was helped back up after she fell because she loved people. Esme doesn’t have somebody like that on her side. What if Elizabeth ends up being the one who truly changes everything for her? She won’t allow herself to go there, but she will give it some thought.

The fact is that only two individuals — Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and Heather Webber (Alley Mills), Esme’s birth parents — are aware of the similarity between Esme and Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). Esme might actually end up being Franco’s half-sister, which would explain why Elizabeth thinks she recognizes traits of Franco in Esme.
