Fans of General Hospital are already aware that Marcus Coloma has left his role as Nikolas Cassadine, and while we’re still not sure what the future of the ABC soap character holds, more information about the actor’s exit — as well as the rumors surrounding it — has emerged.
Coloma’s final episode will air at the end of January, and he reportedly was unable to complete his final scene filming. The actor and the network had actually agreed “that he should not film the remaining few days of the year” due to “health issues with his recent Covid exposure,” contrary to rumors that he had been fired, walked off the set, and refused to film the scenes, according to information obtained by our sister site Deadline.
Coloma, who assumed the position in 2019 and signed a three-year contract that expired in 2022, was replaced during that time by Adam Huss.
The actor’s representative also released a letter to Coloma’s friends and fans that included a statement about his time on the soap opera as well as confirmation of his departure. Coloma remarked, “I was immediately drawn to the ensemble cast’s sense of family. “And I fell in love with the fervent fan base,” she continued. He continued, “I will always be grateful for their kindness and support,” saying how their “outpouring of love and excitement, week after week,” had been unlike anything he’d ever experienced before.
We wish Coloma the best of luck in his future endeavors and will keep our readers informed of any new information pertaining to the role, including whether or not the ABC soap opera intends to recast Nikolas or kill him off the screen.
