General Hospital News: Evan Hofer Details His Journey To Port Charles
In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, the dashing actor confesses that he never imagined himself as an actor. He preferred to become a basketball superstar. He added that he cherished traveling. However, he didn’t devote his full attention to acting until his college years. In a recent interview, he said to Soap Opera Digest, “I kept having to leave town for [acting jobs], and eventually, I just couldn’t make both work. When I was around 18 or 19, I began to realize how much I loved taking on different personas and experiencing various scenarios.
A few months prior to getting the part of Dex, Evan also revealed that he had given General Hospital his first tryout. The author quotes him as saying, “I believe everything works out the way it’s supposed to and that everyone ends up where they’re supposed to.” And I’m so happy that Maurice [Benard, Sonny] ended up working with me because, right away, he just really took me under his wing and gave me the freedom to be myself in this setting. I admitted to Maurice that while I believe I’m a fine actor, I aspire to be great. He therefore holds me to a very high standard and watches my scenes while providing me with feedback. He has treated me so well.

Evan also mentioned that he is good friends with Days of Our Lives actor Carson Boatman, who plays Johnny. “I phoned him before I started at GENERAL HOSPITAL, asking if there was anything I should know before I go in,” he recounted. Everything happens quickly and there are many terms, so make sure you memorize everything and have everything written down, he was saying to me.
