Just the thought of Steve Burton returning to General Hospital has folks buzzing. Some want desperately for it to be true, others say that every time Jason has “died,” the soap did fine without him. But one group in particular can’t help but wonder if they might finally get their day in the sun.

On Twitter, Booklover848 stated, “I want Liason, therefore I’d be pleased to have Steve back for that.” Liason is Liz and Jason, for those who don’t know. She continued by saying she would “only get annoyed” if Jason was brought back to date Sam or Carly.

Rebecca Herbst is one individual who has undoubtedly given the coupling some thought (Liz). She recently revealed to Soap Opera Digest, “I still don’t understand why the writers didn’t finish the Liz and Jason storyline. And it amazes me that the Liason fans are still so devoted to the two characters after all these years.

It’s generally advisable not to enquire about the opinions of shippers of the brief-lived couple unless you have some extra time. After all, they’ve speculated for years as to why that specific plot was omitted, calling it “the greatest love story never written.”

Burton was an actor who, according to Herbst, “really kept me on my toes.” Being that he is so extremely competent, I had to be very, very knowledgeable. With Steve, you can’t get away with phoning it in! ”

Although Elizabeth and Finn are now dating, some vocal fans of the soap opera have issues with the duo. Fans of Liz/Herbst in particular have expressed dissatisfaction that the current narrative, in which Liz reunited with her parents to learn mysteries from the past, seemed to have evolved into a tale about Finn rather than Liz.
