While Dustin Phillips didn’t survive the explosion at The Floating Rib a while back on General Hospital, actor Mark Lawson is celebrating a very special milestone.
Happy Birthday, Mark Lawson
That’s because this great performer, who was born in Bristol, Virginia, on December 17, 1979, is celebrating his 43rd birthday right now! Lawson attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after earning a degree in musical theatre from the Boston Conservatory.
After a year at the esteemed school, Lawson relocated to Los Angeles in an effort to launch his acting career. Apart from his appearance in a Cold Case episode, Lawson kept himself busy with auditions and made money as a personal trainer.
Mark Lawson eventually founded his own strength and conditioning company, Forge, but his sorrow at not being able to pursue his acting dream grew over time. Lawson made a vow to himself that he would audition for roles 10 more times after deciding that a difficult decision needed to be made. He would give up if he didn’t get any bids.
He had a screen test in New York in March 2008 after reading for the part of Quinn, a new character being introduced on the ABC daytime drama series One Life to Live. After it was finished, Lawson was hired; the fourth audition was the winning one.
In April of that year, he made his daytime television debut as Brody (no explanation for the name change was given), and he remained with OLTL until its final episode on January 13, 2012, playing the character until then.
Later, he produced, wrote, and starred in the short horror film Peek-A-Boo. He also made appearances in the movies Dear Diary I Died, Ex-Wife Killer, and Killer Reputation. In addition, he made appearances in episodes of Animal Kingdom and Pitch. Lawson joined General Hospital as high school teacher Dustin Philips on July 9, 2019. He remained there for an entire year and a half till his persona perished in the bombing at the Floating Rib.
