Dante Falconeri And His Criminal General Hospital Hypocrisy

Let’s do a little roll call of all his lies.

Dante Falconeri likes to think of himself as the stalwart, upstanding type on General Hospital. He’s a cop who fights for truth, justice, and the American way. Sure, his father is criminal mob boss Sonny Corinthos, but, as Dante boasted to Sam McCall recently, he has never let that get in the way of his stalwart upstandingness. He has never covered up one of Sonny’s crimes. Oh…really?

Dante Falconeri: First Time Out

As an undercover cop entering Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) organization in order to bring the mafia don down permanently, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was first introduced to GH viewers. Dante got the chance to observe several of Sonny’s illegal actions up close and personal while feigning to be his devoted flunky. Yes, all of the proof Dante must have gathered was disregarded once he realized he was Sonny’s long-lost son.

You could counter that there was never enough evidence to convict Sonny and that if there had been, Dante would have committed the crime while still on duty. But do you know what caused Dante to miss work? He was shot in the chest by Sonny.

Yeah. Sonny discovered Dante was a police officer. To prevent Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennessey) from later claiming entrapment, Sonny shot Dante in the chest as he approached and introduced himself as a police officer. He had murder on his mind.

Unfortunately, Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero), Dante’s mother, arrived a short while later and sobbed when she saw that Sonny had just shot his son. Sonny felt horrible right away. He professed his love for Dante. Who is this man who would kill his own child?

General Hospital Cover Up

Dante must have felt the same way. Because when he was informed of their blood relationship, Dante declined to report what had happened — which would have put Sonny away for sure — and, instead, lied, claiming he shot himself. By accident. In the chest. How would that even work?

You’re right, Dante. That is disguising Sonny’s crime. The action you claimed Sam (Kelly Monaco) had never performed.

There is still more. We have a strong suspicion that Dante may have also been accountable for the offense for which Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) was sentenced to prison term. We haven’t yet received a clear response to it. However, Dante’s steadfast and straight halo is beginning to seem somewhat tarnished.
