The same day that news broke that Marcus Coloma would not be continuing on as Nikolas on General Hospital, the actor shared to Instagram a video that on the surface seemed typical for him: He was, as he often is, dancing.
But this time, there was more to it. He had a partner — his dog — and they were performing the legendary lift from Dirty Dancing to the tune of Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” They pulled it off with aplomb, too, we have to say. See for yourself below.
Given that Coloma won’t be showing up for work in Port Charles any more, it’s tempting to interpret the video as Nikolas No. 4 saying goodbye and that he’s loved his time on the soap opera. Or perhaps that’s stretching it. The actor hasn’t talked publicly about his departure to far.
Ironically, Coloma only recently revealed that he always worried about being fired when he first started playing Nikolas in 2019 in a guest appearance on castmate Maurice Benard’s State of Mind vlog. Furthermore, he claimed that he experienced “a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, Like, they’re attempting to end me.
Coloma frequently experienced that back then. Benard was informed by him that he believed the authorities were “very upset with my work” and that I would “die” on film.
As of now, it is unknown how Nikolas will be written off or whether a replacement will take his position. The character has already undergone more recasts than any other in daytime (the rest are covered in our photo gallery)..
