The author’s and his alone’s views on General Hospital are expressed here. They’re usually right on point, properly biting, and amusing.
Every fan has their own perspective about General Hospital, and Soap Hub is no different. We watched everything—the good, the ugly, and everything in between—for five days, and now we’re here to give you a helpful recap and a lighthearted analysis of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: The Critic Laments
I could devote an entire column to my disappointment, no, make that rage, that General Hospital head honchos Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris felt it necessary to positively absolve St. Carly (Laura Wright) of any wrongdoing, to shield her from having to suffer any consequences for her actions, and to stymie any and all opportunities for the character to grow in a positive direction — wasn’t she supposed to be a different person post-Jacksonville? —
To be quite honest with you, I’m not at all shocked by the course the tale has gone. In fact, this is precisely how I had seen everything going. Carly is the ideal child for this creative team, and she has never done anything wrong and never will.
I want to utilise this part to ask you, the audience, if you think it’s likely—or perhaps I should say, possible—that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) would change her mind and get along with Nina, her unexpected mother (Cynthia Watros)?
Personally, I want to believe that it is. The same Willow who had no trouble pardoning Harmony for a variety of misdeeds, including drugging Willow so a guy could sexually attack her, among a lot of other horrifying deeds.
And although Nina has a history of dubious behaviour, I mean, has she really committed any atrocious crimes? Do you really think Nina is a worse monster than Harmony? No, I mean it when I ask. I genuinely, seriously want to know whether you believe that Nina is the only person who Willow, who has already blessed Carly and Harmony, should hold in contempt.
Further GH Musings
In case there was any misunderstanding, I failed to make it crystal clear in my ponderance last week that I was merely hedging given my mistrust of this soap opera’s current administration. I wondered whether or not General Hospital would be reconfiguring the paternity of Esme’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) baby. After all, they SHOWED Carly fleeing with Willow’s toothbrush before she claimed last week that she used pieces of Willow’s hair for the DNA test. Is it surprising at all that I had any questions?
Is it just me, or does it seem like “Vana’s” hunt for Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) has lasted FOREVER now? For the record, it has only been going on for three to almost four months. I looked. I don’t really care how this plot concludes at this point; I just want it to.
Oh, wonderful. We’re still plodding along with the “Does Marshall Have Schizophrenia Or Doesn’t He” plotline. Yay…?
