Every admirer has their own view about General Hospital, and Soap Hub is no different. We observed everything—the good, the terrible, and everything in between—for five days, and now we’re here to give you a helpful recap and a lighthearted analysis of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: The Critic’s POV
Egad! Three months into 2023, we are STILL clearing the decks (i.e., wrapping up stories that have been in development for years, and in some instances, decades), and there are no obvious resolutions in site.
The parentage of Trina (Tabyana Ali) has LONG been a matter of debate, and despite the fact that everyone with a stake in the matter has now learned of the mystery, it appears that we will continue to lack definitive explanations.
Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) remain separated, determined to bring Linc (Dan Buran) to justice, and Linc continues to torment.
Despite the fact that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is still dying and acting like a victim about it, fingers and paws crossed that soon changes.
But even then, we’ll still have to put up with Willow’s petty outrage over Nina (Cynthia Watros). I hiss and cry at that! Hiss and boo!
Mercenary Mason (Nathanyael Grey), a walking puzzle if there ever was one, has his hot little hands on Nikolas (Adam Huss), so he won’t be disappearing anytime soon from the story, but I doubt that will make it any easier to understand his endgame — assuming General Hospital executives Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris are even aware of what Mason’s endgame is.
Eileen (Heather Mazur) was drafted into Operation “Bring Down Victor” after the extreme high point of the week, but I can’t help but think we still have another two to three months of this plodding disaster ahead of us. Then there is Dr. Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) rage directed at Elizabeth Webber as a result of her sorrow (Rebecca Herbst). We can only hope that leads to some dramatic moments for GH’s 60th anniversary. Surely, GH has to be planning something for the 60th jubilee and May Sweeps. Right?
I can only express my gratitude that the events surrounding The Hook are over. Was it completed quickly? Hardly. Suitably? Barely. But at least it is finished.
Further GH Musings
- Speaking of never-ending storylines, I’d be negligent if I didn’t note “Mac Is Really Cody Bell’s Papa,” “Michael and Dex Are Out To Get Sonny,” and “Gladys Corbin Is Gambling Away Sasha’s Dough” briefly, which is more than General Hospital seems prepared to do. Any kind of progress on these fronts would be highly welcomed, to be honest.
- Leave the city! Do TJ (Tajh Bellow) and Molly (Haley Pullos) really have a separate plot? No, most likely not. In two weeks, I anticipate that the entire “Baby Fever” storyline will be forgotten.
