The author’s opinions are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.
When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: A Critic’s Personal Highlight
Soooooo… Does this line up with anything that has already been established on General Hospital? Esme Prince’s parents are Heather Webber (Alley Mills) and Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom)/Hazel and Richard. The only thing Ryan’s moonlight woodchopping is something I can purchase. That sounds correct.
Would it have killed Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris, the executive producers of General Hospital, to have made Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), Ryan’s former girlfriend, Esme’s birth mother? And yes, that would make Esme older than the twenty-something that has been portrayed, perhaps closer to thirty, but the addition of a few years wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary like Leena Klammer or Esther Albright-Es. Additionally, it would be the most logical course of action, so I can understand why the pair decided against going down that path.
Further GH Musings
I am so, so happy that someone FINALLY realized — and the fact that it was Laura Collins (Genie Francis) made it all the sweeter — that the Ice Princess itself was not what the Cassadines were really after in 1981, but rather what was concealed in the secret compartment in the base of the stand on which the diamond was mounted. It’s past due.
I may not be able to empathize with Spencer Cassadine and his situation because of the character’s writing in general or Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s failure to tone down the offensive petulance in particular.
Elizabeth Webber’s (Rebecca Herbst) claim to be carrying Nicholas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) child is a given due to spoilers and my ability to predict a narrative device from 80 yards out. I have a question for the General Hospital writers: WHY? Has Michael Easton’s portrayal of Hamilton Finn not shown him to be rather skilled at plotting against the best or worst of them? He did not aid Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) escape from police custody a few weeks prior. He would undoubtedly object to the concept of keeping Esme imprisoned in a tower until she gave birth, but I am confident that he could be persuaded to remain silent or perhaps to take part in the plot.
Speaking of Anna, I can’t help but think that by not fully integrating Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) into the picture, GH completely missed the mark. That trio is hilarious together, and I wish I had gotten to see more of their field antics.
Why did Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) suddenly lose her hearing only when Rory Cabrera (Michael Kruse) had to nearly shout his proclamation of love to her just as Spencer walked into the restaurant? Oh, right, a plot device!
