The author’s opinions are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.
When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: A Critic’s Personal Highlight
Not that you’ve ever asked, but one of my all-time favorite Family Guy cutaways shows Peter Griffin appreciating the grandeur of Lionel Richie’s Can’t Slow Down record while sobfully wondering who it was that caused the crooner such pain.
Personally, I’d like to know who it was that so grieved General Hospital executives Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris that their once again celebrating “the most wonderful time of the year” by murdering an innocent person — in 2021 it was poor wee Liam, in 2022 it’s Officer Rory Cabrera (Michael Kruse) — and going out of their way to sever not one but two of their most well-liked pairings, “Nava” and
They’re also slowly killing Katelyn MacMullen’s character Willow Tait because she has the “I don’t want anyone to know that I’m dying from leukemia” syndrome. Exactly the kind of plots you want to struggle through in December.
Further GH Musings
Poor Rory, we hardly even knew you. and I really mean that. What did we know about him other the fact that he was made to A) strengthen the PCPD and B) obstruct “Sprina”? Yes, he enjoys comic books, and we recently learned that he hails from a big family. Oh, and he was reportedly a superb patrol cop. Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), thanks for that little bit of character development! But aside from that…yeah, I don’t have anything.
I understand that there is an unspoken, unwritten rule that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and/or Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) must eventually be inserted into every featured storyline, but if the former was going to cannibalize Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) scene with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), wouldn’t it have made more sense for him to compare Britt Westbourne’
Speaking of Sonny, what does the fact that five unconnected people are sneaking exotic animals into Port Charles without his knowledge reveal about the big bad mobster?
Since The Hook was killed, I believe it’s safe to state that Heather Webber is the only viable suspect. I use the word “viable” very loosely because I know that there was a small contingent of General Hospital fans who thought Rory might be The Hook (Alley Mills). Having a connection with a dealer who specializes in the exotic would go a long way toward explaining how she came into contact with the flesh-eating bacteria that Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) treated. She has the means to escape her confines at Spring Ridge, and one can assume that she also had free reign of the facility at D’Archam.
Although it is a cop out, I am at a loss for alternatives. The Deputy Mayor is working with Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).
That wouldn’t be as disheartening as the ADA bringing charges against Tabyana Ali’s Trina Robinson.
