Tristan Rogers made a move long ago that kept Holly and Robert’s love intact.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost four decades since General Hospital took a chance and paired dashing Robert Scorpio with his “late” best friend Luke Spencer’s lady, Holly Sutton, and fireworks erupted. It’s no secret that viewers have always had a special place in their hearts for Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms and now the actors had a chance to thank them.
Emma Samms & Tristan Rogers Talk With Their Fans
The two participated in a Coastal Entertainment event where they answered audience members’ questions. The lovefest was evident right away and went both ways. The chance for fans to meet the actors who portrayed their favorite couple was a huge hit, and the actors were well aware that their characters’ relationship continues to pique fans’ attention.
In reality, Clarissa praised them for their support of the pair off-screen and brought up something Rogers had said or done that had particularly surprised Samms. She said, “I think the most important turning point in the relationship was in 1987 when you came back, Tristan, and you were meant to claim that Holly perished in a plane crash with her lover, and I think it might have ruined the partnership right there. What do you think about the reason behind your behavior off-camera considering that you could have easily ended the connection and we might not even be present?
First things first: I rewrote that, which is why it changed, Tristan Rogers said. I didn’t like how it was going, so I sat down with my reliable typewriter and revised everything before presenting it to the group. Everyone regarded me with a “who the heck does he think he is?” expression. They eventually accepted the idea after they became accustomed to it because I didn’t alter the plot in any significant way—just a few lines here and there.
I felt that the relationship deserved to finish on a high note rather than a negative note since it was classic soap opera, and I didn’t want to do traditional soap opera, he continued. Since I had never done it before, it was crucial to me that I maintained my integrity and that the relationship ended with some level of…shall we say…honor as opposed to having your typical soap opera where, say, he goes off and has another woman, she goes off and has another guy…no, screw that. That is not how I operate.
“I didn’t realize you’d done that,” interrupted an astonished Samms. She grinned and replied, “That’s cool,” as he nodded. He thanked her, which made Emma Samms laugh and probably delighted the audience. For supporters, it was only one very memorable moment during a fantastic event.
